Ruth Franklin writes in The New Republic about a new dating site that purports to match people based on their favorite literature.

I’d much rather, like Cathleen Schine, find someone whose library opens entirely new doors, whose bookshelves allow me to fill the gaps in my own education while giving me the opportunity to share the books that have changed my life.

Speaking of which, Susan Orlean recently launched a Twitter hashtag, #booksthatchangedmyworld, which went Twittering around the world, garnering more than 9,000 replies.  Her notion of being the matchmaker between friends and books you love is far more appealing to me than letting the literature do the matchmaking.

Orlean’s list is here. What’s on your #booksthatchangedmyworld list?
